Parkour is all about you reclaiming functions and abilities that should be second nature, but were left behind when society said it was time to get self conscious, be screen addicted and basically shut down any chance of experience the daily joy of creative, challenging and REALLY FUN movement!






OUR DEFINITION:



Parkour is the discipline of overcoming mental and physical obstacles, using a method of training that allows the practitioner to move with creativity, efficiency and consistency, resulting in the ability to adapt to any barriers in your path.







SPECIFICALLY:



Running, jumping, balancing, climbing, crawling, traversing, diving, swinging and rolling are all involved.


The challenge never ends and training requires constant problem solving and concentration.





METHOD:



Parkour, Freerunning and ADD (Art Du Deplacement or The Art of Movement) are all movement methods where the practitioner reacts to the environment around them rather than preparing movement sequences beforehand.


The aim is to be able to navigate obstacles and overcome urban or natural environments without having to think about individual movements. The traceur or freerunner operates at an 'unconscious - competent' level and their body is able to move fluidly while they can focus on the destination ahead.





MINDSET:



Parkour is rooted in efficient movements that would be useful in emergency situations. The discipline is centred around team training and personal challenges. Competition is only against oneself and the traceur (someone who is using the parkour method to improve themselves).

It focuses heavily on discipline, precision, problem solving, repetition, perseverance and humility.
